Safeguarding at Wilmslow Running Club

In the event of a runner having a safeguarding of disciplinary issues with any Wilmslow Running Club official or fellow runner, please contact the club Welfare Officer who will direct you to the England Athletics complaints procedures.

As a club, our Safeguarding policies are in place to keep children and vulnerable adults safe, and to prevent harm from occurring from neglect, exploitation or abuse. All suspicions and allegations of abuse against young or vulnerable adults will be responded to, and followed up appropriately in accordance with our Safeguarding policies and local area or statutory guidelines.

As a Club were are affiliated to UK Athletics and we have adopted the policies as laid down by the UK Athletics.

Safeguarding in sport is the process of protecting children and adults from harm by providing a safe space in which to play sport and be active.

Adult Safeguarding Procedures allow us to respond to and manage a concern about an adult.

Safeguarding Policies: demonstrate ownership of the safeguarding agenda. Maintain and review a record of concerns. Follow safe recruitment procedures, including DBS checks (by the Disclosure and Barring Service) Maintain safe premises and equipment, inside and out.

The UK Athletics (UKA) and the Home Country Athletics Federations (HCAF) Codes of Conduct set out national standards of conduct for all clubs, coaches, officials, volunteers and athletes in the sport.

The 2021 revised codes take account of developments in national policy, guidance and practice.

Every club, club member and anyone undertaking a relevant role must agree to abide by the codes of conduct either when they join a club as part of the club application process, or when they renew their club membership or UKA licence.
