About Us

Wilmslow Running Club - About Us

About Us: We're a small, friendly and welcoming running club that loves to race, based on King's Road, Wilmslow, UK.

Vision: The club aims to offer a supportive and friendly environment for all runners keen to improve their performance, whether that be at a local, regional, or national level.

There is an emphasis on healthy competition, and each year we identify a series of key races for members to target - our Club Series. In addition to this, we encourage members to represent the club in a variety of other ways - Road, Trail, Fell, and Cross Country! We enter the Manchester Area Cross Country League (MACCL) every year, as well as the Cross Country 'Nationals'.

We meet on Tuesdays at 18:45. Typically this is at our track, which is adjacent to Wilmslow Rugby Club, though we do use a selection of other local areas for training to provide variety (location changes are communicated to members in advance). These are our rep/speed sessions. They consist of a warm-up [2-4k], a set of mixed distance/duration intervals in ability groups [5-6k], and then a cool-down. During the autumn/winter/early spring months members must wear high visibility clothing (typically, a high-viz vest).

Approximately every 6 weeks or so we have food after training. This is a light meal to replenish carbohydrates and it offers a chance to meet fellow club members. We occasionally have a guest speaker on these occasions. Currently, the club is providing these meals at no cost to our members.
